How to pay

Direct Debit

Signing up to the Direct Debit scheme means you don't have to queue up to pay your bill. The scheme offers you complete peace of mind as it is guaranteed by your bank.

Debit or Credit Card

If you want to pay your Council Tax by credit or debit card, you can either:

  • Make a payment online
  • Call our 24 hour payment line on 0845 371 9901. Calls to this number will cost you 3 pence per minute, plus your phone provider's access/call charges.

Card charges

Please note that if you use a credit card to pay for a council service, a transaction charge of 1.6% will be payable. This reflects the card suppliers’ charges to the Council for accepting credit card payments.

Debit card payments do not incur a transaction charge.

Post Office or any Payzone outlet

You can pay by cash or cheque at any Post Office or at any Payzone outlet. There is no charge for this service.

To do this you will need a payment card. If you do not have one, you can order a payment card.

Standing Order

If you prefer to pay your Council Tax by Standing Order, complete a Standing Order Instruction form and send this to your bank.

Girobank

If you want to pay through Girobank, please give your eight digit Council Tax reference number and our Girobank number, which is 6174132.
